DEPARTMENT OF  PATHOBIOLOGY

 

This Department carries out research and diagnostic tasks, takes part in animal health programs and in epidemilogical surveillance, provides technical assistance to farmers, veterinarians and agricultural institutions, technological transference and continuos education.

Histopathology Section: In close relation to other specialized areas of DILAVE  it carries out post mortems, biopsies and anatomopathological studies.This section handles special immunohistochemical techniques (Infectious Bovine Rinotracheitis, Bovine Viral Diarrhea, Neosporosis, Toxoplasmosis, Listeriosis, Salmonellosis and Campylobacteriosis).

It takes part in the edpidemiological surveillance of Bovine Spongiform Encephalopathy (BSE) and Scrapie, through routine studies of the central nervous system of bovines and ovine.

 

          

 

Reproduction Section: This section is in charge of the registration and control of Semen Dealers, Artificil Insemination Centers and Embryo Transfer Centers; the diagnostic of reporduction disorders, infertility and abortion in different species, diagnostic of Neosporosis as well as the evaluation of bulls, rams and stallions, evaluation and sanitary validation of sperm.

 

          

 

Toxiclology Section: Among its tasks are the diagnostic of micotoxines, organic and inorganic toxic, toxic plants and technical advice in the handiling of toxic pastures (Pithomyces chartarum).

 

        

 

Clinical Pathology Section: It is in charge of the determination of blood biochemical parameters, handling kidney and liver functional, hemogrammes of different animal species and serologic analysis of Toxoplasma gondii in different domestic species.
