FUNCTIONS  

²       Integral diagnostic activities, prevention and control of animal diseases and zoonosis.

²    Research leading to the achievement, maintenance and preservation of the animal health in order to obtain adequate levels of  production and productivity and protection to human healdth.

²       Developmet of  laboratory  functions in activities towards obtaining food from animal origin adequate for human consumption.

²       Chemical control and biological evaluation of veterinary products and raw material used for its elaboration.

²       Participation in the aimal health and epidemiological surveillance programs, in the diseases that the country has defined to eradicate or minimize its impact, such as Brucellosis, Tuberculosis, Anthrax, Newcastle Disease, Salmonellosis, Tick, Sheep Mange, Sheep Louse and Equine Infectious Anaemia.

  ²   Technology transfer to the services related to the country's livestock production.

In oder to comply with these fuctions the Laboratory has seven Deparments:  Bacteriology,  Veterinary Products Control, Parasitology, Pathobiology, Food Protection, Biological Resources and Virology.
